Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy for anxiety, burn-out, depression, trauma, daily problems, life crises and other mental diseases

What is medical hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy (medical hypnosis) is used to heal mental problems and psychological diseases, but it can also be used to heal physical complaints like pain. Many of our clients have experienced that hypnotherapy can help to achieve relief or healing more quickly and that the positive effects last longer that when using psychoanalysis, depth psychological methods or even behavioural therapy.

Hypnotherapy can help to alleviate or heal:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Anxiety and phobia
  • Burn-out
  • Depression
  • Eating discorder (e.g. anorexia nervosa)
  • High sensitivity
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Quitting smoking
  • Physical pain
  • Sexual discorder
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Trauma
  • Weight reduction and diet-change

Medical hypnosis is NOT show hypnosis

Some people are a bit afraid of hypnotherapy. Their image might be influenced by the media. On T.V. the hypnotist often appears as a magician that only clicks his fingers and all of a sudden people start jumping on one leg or even start barking. Mostly these are fake demonstrations or the attendants are briefed in advance. The show must go on. Actually, show hypnosis has almost nothing in common with medical hypnosis.

Medical hypnosis offers at least these 3 benefits:

  1.  Deep relaxation in order to solve problems or to release mental blockages
  2. Self-awareness as foundation for mental healing
  3. Healing

What does medical hypnosis feel like?

Medical hypnosis feels very good, very relaxing and gives you deeper insight into your problems. In contrary to classical psychoanalysis (Sigmund Freud), you don´t have to lie on a sofa. You simply sit on a chair (or a sofa), close your eyes and relax. As hypnotherapists we guide you through the process until you have reached the correct status of trance (deep mental relaxation). During the session you can perceive everything around you, you can talk and answer questions. After your hypnotherapeutical treatment you might feel a bit dizzy for a minute and you will be able to remember everything that happened during the session. At all times you can decide yourself what you would like to talk about and what you would like to tell your hypnotherapist.

Can every person be hypnotized?

Actually, yes. On the other hand, it is only possible it you really want it. Hypnosis is a matter of trust. The use of (psychotropic) drugs, alcohol or coffee might have an impact on medical hypnosis. For medical reasons we don't treat pregnant women and epileptics with hypnotherapy.

Is medical hypnosis dangerous?

Hypnotherapy is safe. Some people are afraid of saying "too much" during hypnotherapy. Others are afraid of not being able to return to the state of full consciousness. At any time during the hypnotherapeutical treatment you are able to decide if you want to talk, what you want to say and what you want to do. And even if the hypnotherapist would die during a treatment, you would "wake up" after a while on your own anyway.
During the hypnotherapeutical treatment strong emotions and even tears might occur. As well-trained and experienced therapists we can cope with these kinds of situations and empathetically guide you through the process of mental healing. Hypnotherapy appears to be as safe as conversational psychotherapy.

Can children benefit from hypnotherapy?

Yes, especially children can be hypnotized quite easily. They should just be able to sit still and concentrate for about ½ hour. Mostly that is possible when they are at school already. From the age of 12 on, hypnotherapy techniques for adults are being used.

Does hypnotherapy have a long-term effect?

The effect of hypnotherapy can be very long-lastig. On the other hand, hypnotherapy is not wizardry and has its limits. The biggest influence on the success of hypnotherapy is still the client´s will to change and to work on his problems. If the client does not change anything (environment, attitude, behaviour), even hypnotherapy won't be able to.
Some clients, especially the very stressed ones, might need 1 to 2 sessions to get used to the status of deep relaxation. That is normal and important for a positive long-term success. During hypnotherapy we prefer working with mental "anchors". This technique can easily be used in stressy daily-life situations in order to relax and it can help to intensify the positive effect of hypnotherapy.
Many of our clients say, that hypnotherapy has helped them more than other psychotherapeutical treatments. Furthermore, most clients need fewer sessions, compared with other psychotherapeutical interventions.
Unfortunately, like all psychotherapists, we can´t guarantee the success of hypnotherapy. It is still the client´s duty to continue working on his (mental) problems. The role of a hypnotherapist is rather like a guide or companion who accompanies the client on his journey towards mental healing.

Can hypnotherapy help to solve other problems?

Yes, hypnotherapy can help to solve a lot of different problems like:

  • Fear of the dentist
  • Exam anxiety
  • Releasing blockages
  • Problem-solving
  • How to deal with crises
  • Stress-reduction
  • Unable to get pregnant

There are probably countless ways to use hypnotherapy individually. Please contact us at any times, we are looking forward to serving you.
